Oil & Gas Industry

I enjoyed a year at Weber State after High School graduation, then married. I spent the next few decades enjoying family and friends. I have 3 wonderful children, 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. I began working in 1980 for Flying J Oil & Gas. Over the next 30+ years I worked for both downstream and upstream Oil & Gas companies. Much experience comes from working at Amoco Oil Co-BP America, Big West Oil & Gas, Questar Exploration and QEP Energy Company. I currently work at QEP Energy but I'm thinking of retiring soon. I divorced in 2000 and decided to return to college. I completed my degree in Geology in 2010 at the University of Utah. I can't believe it's been 50 years since HS graduation. Where has the time gone!

Fifty years, where has it gone? After graduation from OHS I went to Utah State. There I married my high school sweetheart Kathy Rose. Graduating from USU I did a short stint in the Army then went into commercial lending, later into real estate development. I have since retired. Kathy and I love to travel and have seen most the world. We spend our time between Ogden and St. George, Utah. |

Reflecting back upon my days at OHS, it was a cherished time of childish innocence. I never realized how wonderful those times were until I’d jumped out of the pan and into the fire. I enlisted in the Air Force immediately following graduation…thought I’d had enough of school. That experience certainly changed my perspective, Vietnam service and so on, and then I followed that up with some service time with the Army (just couldn’t get enough of the fun). I decided it was time to return to school, attending Weber State, University of Utah, and the University of New Mexico (yes, I graduated). I married Maranne Olsen (OHS ’65) and together we raised three sons and one beautiful daughter. Retirement as an engineer came for me in 2004 and we have spent the years to present traveling the world. It has been a journey. Life is good. Hope the same for all of my classmates.
